My little bro's a married man

Andrew and Gloria were finally married weekend before last at the Kings School Chapel, Nth Parramatta. The same chapel that my parents were married in and that Andrew and I were christened in (I even saw our names in the christening register!). Gloria looked stunning and I didnt know Andrew could scrub up that well!

In the chapel

The ceremony was followed by a Korean buffet lunch outside the church (with 3 un-named members of my family managing to drop chilli squid on their wedding outfits!). The reception was held that night at the Pavillion on the Park.

Had a great time dancing the night away with my family. My (slightly tipsy) mother has declared that we need to have more weddings! As she had so much fun.

Congratulations Andrew and Gloria!

Wedding Season 2006 - Kate's hens night

It has begun again, although this year is not as crazy as the last (has one year really gone by!). Next weekend is Kate and Alex's wedding and we all went out for Kates hens night 2 Saturdays ago in Nth Sydney.

After a few drinks at the Commodore Hotel we headed up to the Firehouse hotel for some food and more drinking. Kate was given a task list to complete, tasks including classy acts such as flashing a bar tender and going to the mens toilets - she completed many more of the assigned tasks than anyone expected!

unfortunately I didn't manage to get to many photos of Kate in her stunning lime green vale but I like this one of Hannah, Jess and I in tiaras...

Wollongong Weddings

We are finally at the end of wedding season. Thats 5 weddings in 3 months.

Wollongong Wedding #1: Ian and Erika

The skirts were lovely - and the girls looked great too! The groomsmen wore kilts and we were welcomed into the church by bagpipes. Erika wore one of the longest trains I have ever seen (in real life anyway). I guess when else can a girl indulge like that than on her wedding day.

What a small world it is too - my brothers best mate was there - turns out he went to uni with Erika.

Wollongong Wedding #2 - Rossi and Shelly

Rossi and Shelly were married the week after in the Stonequarry gardens in Picton. A beautiful location for a wedding. Rossi wore a tan suit (he had to be different) with the maffia boys in black as groomsmen. The bridesmaids wore light lime green and Shelly looked amazing.

We had a great night at the reception. Great food, dancing and the usual wollongong boys antics.

Weddings - Part 3

Congratulations Annaliese and John who were married on the weekend at St Lukes Church followed by a reception at Oatlands. It was a wonderful day and everyone looked fantastic, especially Anna.

After a relatively short and stressful leadup, both Anna and John looked so relieved when it was all over. I am sure they are even more relaxed now as they sit on a beach in Fiji!

Not Another Chicken Night!

You would be forgiven for thinking all I ever do is go to weddings and hens nights! They are coming to an end though - I promise.

Anna and John are the last for the wedding season (well for my friends, we haven't even started on Brents friends yet!). While the boys went lawn bowling (complete with John in a dress) the girls had dinner and dancing at Tharen Restuarant in Kings Cross.

Tharens is set up to cater for hens nights and other big parties, with set menus followed by retro music, dancing and hats on the wall so everyone can dress up.

Dinner was delicious - a surprise for a group resturant! I wish I could have fit more of the blueberry creme brulee in after the first 2 courses - YUM! Everyone got into the dancing after dinner with the tables being pushed back.

This photo shows Anna in the traditional hand me down veil. Each hen has to take the veil home and add something too it for the next to get married. Hannah added the flower and Elise some gum leaves.

Sue Lin and Jasons Wedding

Last weekend we headed to the hunter valley for a weekend of good wine, good food, good company, and most importantly Sue and Jasons wedding.

I was so excited about this weekend after all the preparation that has gone into it - many a "what do you reckon about red flowers?" email, shoes and dresses trialed and paper crane placeholder made - the day finally arrived. And after all that lead up the actual event was still full of surprises for me. Sneaky Sue! :)

Everything went off without a hitch with perfect blue sky weather and Sue looking absolutely stunning in her vintage style dress and singapore orchids in her hair and J also scubbing up nicely in tails and shiny shoes.

The day was so good and so filled with memorable moments but my favourite bits were:

  • Watching girly videos with the girls while having our hair and makeup done. Being a bridesmaid is fun! Thanks Sue for asking me.
  • The beautiful location at Holman estate overlooking the vineyards
  • J and Hell performing Ben Harpers Beloved One followed a surprise song written by J for Sue bringing a tear to more than just Sue's eye!
  • Paella! and the delicious wine and the rest of the meal at Rothbury Estate- all delicious!
  • Dancing to Loonatic Fringe, the band (you guys rock!). Not to forget the 500 Miles sing off - boys against girls
  • The recovery BBQ - perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Andrew & Jess are Married

Wedding season kicked off in style on Friday with the wedding of Jess and Andrew. The inclement weather managed to hold off just long enough for the ceremony to be held on the Band Lawn at the Botanic Gardens with a the wonderful Sydney harbour backdrop. Jess looked gorgeous in her dress complement by her dapper groom and multicoloured bridal party.

After champagne on the lawn and a (very) quick detour to the opera bar the cocktail style reception was held at the botanic gardens retaurant. Complimented by a never ending glass of champagne we were served up delicious canapes including mini fritata, satay skewers, scallops and roast beef on polenta. Followed by a slice of the personalised wedding cake. After speeches, cake cutting and other official business was over we all danced the night away to the band.

Chickens Night

Last night was Jess' Hens, I mean, Pre Wedding Party. The theme was memorable women which led to an interesting array of characters showing up for cocktails at the bank hotel. We had everyone from Amalie, Imelda Marco, Joan of Arc and Mother Teresa. I went along as Marilyn Munroe.

After a few cocktails we headed to Thai Patong for dinner. Then on to Manhatten SuperBowl for retro bowling complete with retro tunes, disco lights and mirror balls, more effort was put into the dance moves than the bowling technique!
