Chickens Night

Last night was Jess' Hens, I mean, Pre Wedding Party. The theme was memorable women which led to an interesting array of characters showing up for cocktails at the bank hotel. We had everyone from Amalie, Imelda Marco, Joan of Arc and Mother Teresa. I went along as Marilyn Munroe.

After a few cocktails we headed to Thai Patong for dinner. Then on to Manhatten SuperBowl for retro bowling complete with retro tunes, disco lights and mirror balls, more effort was put into the dance moves than the bowling technique!

All the freaky people make the beauty of the world

Micheal Franti
Manning Bar Sydney Uni 21st Feb 2005

Michael Franti has got to be one of the best live acts I have ever seen. With his personal presence (the man is 6foot 6!), powerful lyrics and amazing music he creates a giant "love in" complete with hand clapping, singing and pants shaking!

Along with crowd favourites such as Everyone Deserves Music, Bomb the World, Sometimes, Ganga Babe and an interesting country version of Fall from Grace he performed a lot of new songs. He also plugged a new movie he recently made in Iraq. Since the last time I saw him he had also learnt to play guitar - an achievement he is clearly proud of, hardly putting the thing down for the over 3 hour long gig. Made for a different night without his normal jumping around.

Although this gig did not reach the dizzy heights of the Metro gig two years ago, this was still a fantastic night. Looking foward to the new album.

Scuba in Husky

Last weekend Elise and Michael organised our annual pilgrimage to Huskison. Each year we book campsites at the Husky caravan park, a beautiful spot right on the beach, perfect for a pre breakfast swim followed by a day of snorkelling in the national park.

This year I organised for Sarah, Duncan Michael and I to do a couple of boat dives on the Saturday. We headed out to Pt Perpendicular to the Pyramid Rock and Pinnacle Cave dives. On the way 2 dolphins played at the bow of the boat giving us a wonderful up close view. We also saw penguins and lots of birds.

The dives themselves were interesting - although the first dive saw me spending more time playing with my bouyancy and trying to get it together after almost 2 years out of the water. Wasn't exactly graceful in the water - as you can see by the photo! We saw lots of fish including hungry gropers who we taunted with urchins, old wives, nudibranchs, octopus and a weedy sea dragon (which I missed while I was adjusting my bouyancy - damn it!)

When we arrived back in Huskisson, the weather, which had been beautiful all day, turned bad and after a quick shower we retreated to the Husky pub for the evening.

The rain continued into the night and the next morning the planned snorkling was cancelled and we headed back to Sydney.

Thanks Elise for organising another great husky trip!

Lite n Lazy

I am once again dieting. Just want to lose 5kg's this time and conquer that target weight (bloody BMI! I am big boned I tell you!) I have chosen the easiest/laziest option available to me - Lite n Easy - I have my breakfast lunch and and dinner delivered to my door once a week. That means no calorie counting, no preparation, no cooking, no resisting the temptation to eat the naughty option.

The meals are tasty too and really varied. Although not sure that I could last too long on it and I wonder how people that don't already understand calories and nutrician go after they come off it. Oh well, is working for me so far so I can't complain.

Todays Menu

Breakfast: 2 slices of toast with baked beans
green apple
Lunch: Canton Dim Sims
A warm salad of asian greens and steamed dim sims covered in a sweet and spicy canton sauce. Remininsent of the wanton salad from Taste in Newtown - delicious!
Kiwi Fruit
Fruit and Nut Mix
Dinner: Roast Lamb with Roast Veges, Peas and Carrots.
