Scuba in Husky
Last weekend Elise and Michael organised our annual pilgrimage to Huskison. Each year we book campsites at the Husky caravan park, a beautiful spot right on the beach, perfect for a pre breakfast swim followed by a day of snorkelling in the national park.
This year I organised for Sarah, Duncan Michael and I to do a couple of boat dives on the Saturday. We headed out to Pt Perpendicular to the Pyramid Rock and Pinnacle Cave dives. On the way 2 dolphins played at the bow of the boat giving us a wonderful up close view. We also saw penguins and lots of birds.
The dives themselves were interesting - although the first dive saw me spending more time playing with my bouyancy and trying to get it together after almost 2 years out of the water. Wasn't exactly graceful in the water - as you can see by the photo! We saw lots of fish including hungry gropers who we taunted with urchins, old wives, nudibranchs, octopus and a weedy sea dragon (which I missed while I was adjusting my bouyancy - damn it!)
When we arrived back in Huskisson, the weather, which had been beautiful all day, turned bad and after a quick shower we retreated to the Husky pub for the evening.
The rain continued into the night and the next morning the planned snorkling was cancelled and we headed back to Sydney.
Thanks Elise for organising another great husky trip!
